Вам может потребоваться установить необходимые библиотеки (FreeImage и RubyInline), чтобы заставить ImageScience работать. ( ImageScience RDoc)

Кстати, я предполагаю, что вы не используете mini_magick или rmagick, потому что у вас нет доступа к установке imagemagick или graphicsmagick.

Возможно, вам следует попробовать использовать один из этих двух вариантов, поскольку ImageScience давно не обновлялся.
