Для эффекта слайда используйте jquery UI

У вас есть небольшая проблема со скриптом. попробуй это:

    $("#section2 li:not(:first)").hide();
    $("a").click(function(){
        $("#section2 li").hide();
        $($(this).attr("href")).toggle();
        return false;
    });
});
