Я пытаюсь отследить, откуда они берутся, но когда я бегу show managed-classpath, единственные баночки slf4j

я никогда не видел slf4j-nop-1.7.7.jar или же slf4j-jdk14-1.7.7.jar или же slf4j-simple-1.7.7.jar,

Как они на пути к классам?

После комментариев и возможных решений я могу предложить мой для включения в build.sbt для пользователей версий без исправления, например Play 2.3.2:

libraryDependencies ++= Seq(
  "org.slf4j" % "slf4j-api"       % "1.7.7",
  "org.slf4j" % "jcl-over-slf4j"  % "1.7.7"
).map(_.force())

libraryDependencies ~= { _.map(_.exclude("org.slf4j", "slf4j-jdk14")) }
