PIne message COmposition editor(pico) is part of the Pine email package and was designed to be an easy to learn text editor. Pico can be found on most Unix systems, has a license restriction that prevents it from being distributed with Debian Linux. For this reason, there is a free clone of pico called nano, which has some additional features.
It should be noted that Pico is also a flat-file CMS and the tag has been used in this context.
Pine and Pico are freeware software products developed by the University of Washington.
