The OSIsoft PI System is a historical database (historian) developed by OSIsoft. The PI System is used to archive data, many times as a back-end for a real-time database collection service. It is used across multiple industries to archive operational, business, event, and process data.
It is not a relational database, and generally consists of a timestamp and a value for each record, with a limited amount of annotations allowed and some flags.
